Result from Barnsley Minors Division 3 gala 7/4/19

Spa made the trip to Spenborough today (7/4/19) for their first Barnsley Minors league gala of 2019. Newly promoted to division 3 after their champion performance in division 4 last year, Spa put up a really brave fight against some stiff opposition and all swimmers should be really proud of their efforts

Rose and Cohen success at Yorkshire Championship

Spa Swimmers Rose Keefe and Cohen Stephenson of Spa were successful at the recent Yorkshire Championships at the John Charles Centre in Leeds (2nd Feb)

Rose knocked a brilliant 24.71 seconds off her personal best in the 100m Breaststroke, and an equally impressive 13.74 seconds off her personal best in the 100m freestyle

Meanwhile, in the 14 year old boys age group, Cohen also had a successful event as he recorded 5 personal bests on his way to securing 1 gold, 2 silvers and a bronze. The medals came in 200m backstroke (Gold – 2.22.79 PB), 100m Breastroke (silver – 1.34.26 PB), 200m Individual Medley (Silver – 2.27.30)  and 200m freestyle (bronze – 2.11.48 PB).

Congratulations to both swimmers on their achievements!

Barnsley Minors League – Spa promoted for 2019

After securing the Barnsley Minors League Division 4 title in 2018, if has been confirmed that Spa have been promoted to division 3 of the league in 2019.

They will compete against City Of Sheffield, Spenborough and Edlington.

Well done to all swimmers, here’s hoping for an equally impressive 2019!

Spa confirmed as Barnsley Minors League Division 4 champions 2018

We are delighted to announce that we have had confirmation from the Barnsley Minors League that we have finished top of league division 4 and as such are champions


Due to withdrawals of other clubs from the league structure we do not yet know what division we will be swimming in next year, but we will remain 2018 division 4 champions regardless.

Results from Barnsley Minors Division 4 Gala 23/6/18

Spa stormed to a famous victory this afternoon at Askern Pool, again seeing off some stiff competition from Rossington and Knottingley to finish in first place.

Spectators were once again treated some fantastic swimming and no little effort from all 3 teams, but on this occasion Spa were able to pull clear of their rivals.

1. SPA ASKERN – 104

2. Rossington Rascals – 95

3. Knottingley – 93

Spa must now wait for confirmation from the league on the result, which should see them crowned as division 4 Champions for 2018 – watch this space!

Result from Friday’s Doncaster Invitation Cup (Plate) Meet

Despite some top swimming, Spa were just edged out of the Doncaster Invitation Cup competition by Rossington Rascals on Friday night, losing by 55 points to 51.

Spa were right in the competition up to the end, but the Rascal’s held off the challenge and progress through to the next round of the competition

Result from Today’s BMLD4 Gala at Askern (9/6/18)

Another close gala this afternoon as Knottingley ASC hosted Rossington and Spa at Askern Pool in this Barnsley Minors League Division 4 Fixture.

This is the first of 3 galas in a hectic June for Spa, but they got away on the right footing by finishing in first place, just ahead of Knottingley and Rossington not far behind in third place. Final scores (subject to League ratification) are:

SPA Askern – 139

Knottingley – 136

Rossington Rascals – 130

Spa Askern ASC – Swim Mark accreditation confirmed

After several months of work, Spa ASC have gained Swim Mark Essential status with Swim England. In order to gain this status, Swim England considered the governance, sustainability and effectiveness of the Club. More in formation can be found on the Swim England Website
