After several months of work, Spa ASC have gained Swim Mark Essential status with Swim England. In order to gain this status, Swim England considered the governance, sustainability and effectiveness of the Club. More in formation can be found on the Swim England Website
Max Litchfield set a new Commonwealth record in the 400m Individual Medley at the World Swimming Championships earlier today.
Max clocked a time of 4:09.62 on his way to 4th place.
Well done Max!
Former Spa Swimmers Max and Joe Litchfield finished 1st and 3rd respectively in the 400m Individual Medley at the recent British Swimming Championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. Recording a time of 4:10:63, Max (pictured) also qualified for a place in the British team for the World Championships in Budapest in July. Joe recorded a time of 4:19:18 for his 3rd place. Both currently swim for City of Sheffield Swimming Club. As always, well done to both swimmers!
A bumper crowd of members, family and club supporters gathered for Spa’s 2017 presentation night on Saturday 21st January. Presenting the awards were two special guests: Olympian Max Litchfield (who finished 4th in the 400m Individual Medley in the 2016 games in Rio), and Long-time supporter of Spa Stuart Walker, who is also President of the Yorkshire Amateur Swimming Association.
Once the presentations were completed, the audience was treated to some fantastic singing by club members…and parents.
It only seems like a few days since we were celebrating Max finishing 4th in an Olympic final in Rio, but now the former Askern Spa Swimmer has broken the British 400m Individual Medley short Course Record.
Max shaved nearly a second off he record on his way to Silver Medal in the World Short Course Championships in Canada at the weekend, registering a time of 4:00.06.
Well done Max (again)!
Congratulations to Current City of Sheffield and former Askern Spa swimmer Max Litchfield, who finished in 4th place in the 400m Individual Medley Final in Rio.
Max’s time of 4.11.62 put him less than 2 seconds outside a medal place in a final won by Kosuke Hagino of Japan.
Well done from all at Askern Spa ASC!
Max Litchfield, former member of Askern Spa Swimming Club, has qualified for the Rio Olympics this summer.
Max, who now swims for the City of Sheffield Club, beat the qualifying standard time on his way to winning the 400m Individual Medley in Glasgow in April to secure his place.
Good luck in Rio!
A selection of photos from the 2016 presentation night held at Norton Coronation WMC are now on our Photo Gallery page. Club Chairman and coach Mick Gartside presented medals and trophies to successful swimmers at the 2015 Home Championships…and also scooped first prize at the raffle!
Hopefully more photos to follow soon…
